Caldas Novas belonged to the Capitania of São Paulo, while Brazil was a Portugal's colony. The dogs ran ahead of him as if they were touched by an mysterious fire, discovering the Lagoa Quente do Pirapitinga. That was the beginning of the history of the hot springs of Caldas Novas, the history of a village that became a town.
And today, Caldas Novas is the world capital of hot water springs. Waters with temperatures that reaches 51O C, surrounded by pleasant lakes, waterfalls, many kinds of birds and a beautiful view of the mountain ridge.
